Grain in Ear

The Grain in Ear falls on June 5, 6 or 7. Wheat and barley are fully ripe at this time, while lots of other crops are ready to be sown. This is the busiest time for farmers, as they sow and reap at the same time.


When the Grain in Ear approaches, spring flowers have almost disappeared. In some parts of China, there is a tradition of seeing off the Flower Goddess on the Grain in Ear day. People hold sacrificial ceremonies to show their gratitude to the Flower Goddess as well as their wish to see her again the following year. From this solar term, it's becoming hotter and hotter, so people need to make sunstroke prevention.
